Meet Pastor Andy
Pastor Andy Salagaj is a product of Lufkin First Assembly. This is his home church. Through the ministry of LFA, he came to know the Lord, and was called into the ministry. Pastor Andy and his wife Cathy raised their three children here and found that it was a great place to grow their family.Andy and Cathy were married in 1973 and have one daughter and two sons. Their daughter, April, is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University and now serves as the Marketing Coordinator for Commercial Bank of Texas in Nacogdoches. She serves faithfully in the LFA choir and is a vital part of the leadership team for the Uncommon Young Adult Ministry. Joey, their oldest son, is married to Jennifer and lives in Lufkin while working as a hotshot driver. He is one of the most faithful and dedicated members of the Worship Band here at LFA and Jennifer serves each week in our Children’s Ministry. Their youngest son, Casey, lives in Irving, TX and works as an Assistant Manager for Johnny Carino’s Italian Grill. He is engaged to Kristen Letney and they will be married here at LFA on August 3, 2007.
It was here at Lufkin First that Andy found God calling him into full time ministry. After working for 21 years at Champion Paper Mill and serving as a volunteer leader in the church’s worship ministry, he joined the staff of LFA to serve as the Executive Pastor under former Senior Pastor, Todd Hudnall. He served in that position from 1996 to 2004.
In November 2004, Andy became the Senior Pastor of Lufkin First Assembly. Today, LFA's 13-acre campus is home to a congregation with an average weekend attendance of over 1,100. Since that time, the church has seen 279 salvations, 324 recommitments and more than 130 new members joining it’s congregation. During the first two and a half years of his leadership, the church’s Missions giving began to grow and the church was recognized in 2006 as being ranked third in it’s Missions giving for the North Texas district. LFA has sent and is supporting missionaries in China and Belgium, as well as being heavily involved in home missions projects. Pastor Andy’s support of beginning a new prison ministry resulted in well over 800 conversions. His vision and dedication to the ministry of Lufkin First Assembly begins a new era for the church and it's impact on the community.
